You can find the full curriculum on LinkedIn. However, let’s go through my career in this page.
Studies
Since I was little, I was always interested in computers. That’s why I chose a technical high school with the focus on computer science and programming.
Afterwards, as I did not have the possibility to attend the University for family reasons, I chose a course, sponsored by the region (Piemonte), to specialize myself in Website development.
That course gave me the chance to start as an apprentice in software development (COBOL!!).
Certifications
03/2017. ISTQB Foundation level.
10/2017 – 05/2018. Certification in Motorcycle race engineering by Experis Motorsport, in collaboration with Aprilia Racing.
11/2020. ISTQB Advanced level, test manager.
03/2023. Certified SAFe 5 agilist.
Jobs
2004. The start
COBOL developer
Long time ago, my first real job. Apprentice for a very small software company, called Evolution & Technology, which does not even exist anymore. Two owners plus myself. I was a COBOL developer for a storage management software.
10/2005. The first big company
Test Engineer
After four interviews, I finally got my first job with an unlimited contract. Alenia Aeronautica (now Leonardo) hired me as a Test Engineer for safety critical equipments for military aircrafts (the armament system of the Eurofighter). Here, I took my first steps in testing and developed a Visual Basic tool to help me analyze results more efficiently.
01/2008. The first experience abroad
Test Automation Engineer
After a couple of years of requesting an opportunity to gain international experience, I finally managed to move to US (Atlanta, GA) for Alenia North America. Here I was responsible for test automation for the navigation (on HUD) of the C-27J aircraft.
08/2010. Back to Italy
Test Engineer / Integrator
After two and a half years in US I was relocated back to Torino in Alenia Aeronautica (now Leonardo) as the project was winding down. I went back to the Eurofighter as a tester for the navigation system. I also worked for UAVs, serving as integrator and developing some functions of the ground station.
05/2012. Moving into automotive
Test Automation Engineer
After many years in the aeronautics field, I decided it was time to explore a new industry. I pursued opportunities in the automotive sector and eventually succeeded, thanks to Magneti Marelli. I was hired as a Test Automation Engineer for the entrynav, which was the BMW infotainment.
During my time here, I gained a solid understanding of test automation by validating the infotainment system both on the test bench and in the vehicle. I also learned some Python and developed skills in finding solutions to automate additional tests.
08/2013. My second experience abroad
Test Automation Engineer / Sytem Engineer
I spent just a year in Magneti Marelli, even though I liked the job. However, I wanted to have another experience abroad and I found an opportunity with Da Vinci Engineering in Stuttgart. They were looking for a Test Automation Enginneer to be resident in Panasonic Automotive, to test the Dailmler infotainment called NTG5*1.
It was the same job I had in Magneti Marelli, but on a different hardware/software, with the focus on the camera system.
After a while, I also changed to a System Engineer position, where I could have more contacts with the customer and become a function owner.
07/2015. Back to Italy, part II.
Electronic Planner / Test Manager
My experience at Panasonic Automotive was generally positive, but as the project was coming to an end and there were no new opportunities in sight, I began to feel uncertain about my position as an external for Da Vinci. This prompted me to start exploring other options. Finally I received a call from BFFT Italia (now EDAG) to be resident in Lamborghini for a job that I had never done before: Electronic Planner in the production line.
It was a challenging role, with the primary objective of keeping the production line running continuously. My main responsibility was to ensure that the correct software was installed in the vehicles, along with developing specific scripts to flash and code the ECUs at the production line stations.
After a couple of year, in the same company, I switched to test management and I was responsible for four test engineers (plus one in Shanghai) testing the connected services of the Lamborghini Urus infotainment. Here I grew experience in managing a test project and commissioning test benches.
09/2019. Back to Germany
Senior Test Manager
After giving it some thought, I decided to move back to Germany with the intention of staying there long-term. I accepted the role of Test Manager at Elektrobit, eventually becoming Senior Test Manager after a couple of years, validating a component responsible for over-the-air updates in the automotive sector.
At Elektrobit, I gained significant knowledge and earned trust within the validation department. As a result, I took on the roles of coach for specific projects and test managers, as well as mentor.
I am currently responsible for various tasks, including developing test management guidelines, evaluating tools, and performing metrics and data analysis using Power BI. Additionally, I have assumed the responsibility of problem resolution management.
In 2024, I have been assisting a customer with bug analysis.
